Emir Galilee

Emir Galilee is a Kreimann Post-Doctoral Fellow at The Ben-Gurion Research Institute for the Study of Israel & Zionism, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. He has authored, both individually and collaboratively, a number of papers, in both Hebrew and English, focused on the geography and history of nomadic and Muslim societies in Israeli and Arab landscapes in historical perspectives.

His areas of interest include historical, social and cultural geography; the social-cultural geography of ethnic and religious groups; the historical and social geography of nomadic and indigenous groups; tribalism in the Middle East; Arab landscapes in historical perspective; geography and literature, hiking trails and minorities.

דר’ אמיר גלילי הוא עמית מחקר לבתר דוקטורט של קרן קרייטמן במכון בן-גוריון לחקר ישראל והציונות באוניברסיטת בן-גוריון בנגב. עבודת הדוקטורט שלו, שעסקה בתהליכים גאוגרפיים וחברתיים בחברה הבדווית בנגב במחצית הראשונה של המאה העשרים נעשתה במחלקה לגאוגרפיה באוניברסיטה העברית. תחומי העניין שלו הם גאוגרפיה חברתית-תרבותית-היסטורית של קבוצות אתניות ודתיות שונות, גאוגרפיה חברתית-היסטורית של רועים נוודים ועמים ילידים, שבטיות במזרח התיכון, הנוף הערבי בהקשרים היסטוריים, גאוגרפיה וספרות, שבילי טיולים ואוכלוסיות מיעוטים
