Search and Rescue Challenges in Desert Area

This workshop will teach participants about the steps and process of search and rescue work in deserts. Activities will center around the techniques of rescuing people in the desert and best practices to ensure the success of a search and rescue mission.




Workshop Description

With the rise in popularity of long nature walks and hiking in Israel and around the world, the need for a search and rescue team operating on a short response time was born with the mission of locating and rescuing travelers who are in danger. This type of service is needed in the desert as it is a particularly risky environment due to the high temperatures, the lack of available water sources their isolated location. All of these challenges make the search and rescue work in a desert environment unique. This workshop will combine classroom lectures and field trip experiences to understand and practice the principles of search and rescue in the desert.
